What is hypnotherapy?

The analogy of an iceberg, demonstrates this really well. The conscious (the part you can see) and the subconscious (the part under the water and hidden from view – the part we tap into during hypnosis)

Hypnosis has been very prevalent in the treatment of many ailments and pain relief for thousands of years. The earliest references that is given to hypnosis, dates back to ancient Egypt and Greece. Indeed, ‘hypnos’ is the Greek word for sleep, though the actual state of hypnosis is very different from that of sleep. Many cultures and traditions have used hypnosis over the years and today it is an accepted integrated therapy for all ages.
Hypnosis allows for individuals to enter a state of trance which is a very natural state for humans and nothing to be feared at all (even though stage hypnosis has give an unhealthy slant on its use and been used purely for entertainment purposes). A good example of a trance state is to take your mind back to those times when you have been on a journey in a car or train – you arrive at your destination and although you have been awake, somehow you ‘zoned’ out and time had no meaning, you were relaxed and at ease. Once you needed to be alert again and make conscious decisions you were ‘back’ safe and sound. This is quite simply a self induced trance and very pleasant indeed. In this trance state you are connected to your sub-conscious – the power house of emotions, feelings, beliefs and the autonomic nervous system and through relaxation and visualisation techniques we can access this easily in a one to one hypnotherapy session.

Working with children

Children and Teenagers are very responsive to hypnosis and can be helped with a number of things such as confidence, blushing, stammering, bedwetting, phobias, exam nerves and bullying.

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) NLP-1

It’s a fancy name but quite simply NLP helps empower and motivate individuals and can help give clarity and focus on ones life.

NLP help to look at the ‘filling cabinet’ within the brain and helps delete, rearrange or replace old limiting files and in its place ignite new empowering beliefs and thought systems.
